Railway level crossing without gate or barrier ahead
What it means
The steam engine means a railway crosses the road ahead with nothing physical to stop you - no gates, no barriers. They turn up on quiet rural roads. Slow right down, look both ways and listen for a train, and only start across when the road beyond is clear so you can never be left sitting on the rails.
