Level crossing signs
Keep crossing clear
What it means
Keep crossing clear means do not let your car end up standing on the rails. You will meet it at automatic and open crossings - fixed to the posts carrying the flashing red light signals, or beside the St Andrew's cross where a crossing has no signals. Hold back until there is a gap big enough for your whole car on the far side, then go - and never stop on the crossing to let a passenger out.
