Level crossing signs

Light signal at level crossing for pedestrians

Light signal at level crossing for pedestrians sign

What it means

This is the signal for people on foot at a railway or tramway crossing. A red figure means the line is not safe and you MUST NOT cross or pass the stop line. There is no green figure to wait for - when the red figure goes out and no alarm is sounding, look both ways and cross. You will meet it on station footpaths and beside road crossings - and do not set off just because one train has gone by.
