Motorway signs
Vehicular traffic must leave at next junction
What it means
The arrow is telling you to come off at the next exit, normally because the road ahead is blocked or closed. Start working left across the lanes straight away instead of at the slip road, checking mirrors and blind spot for each lane you cross, and take the exit.

- Appropriate traffic lanes for different manoeuvres at a junction ahead
- Closure of all lanes of a three lane carriageway ahead
- Closure of right hand lane of a two lane carriageway ahead
- Direction to a motorway at the junction shown, indicating route number
- Drivers should check their distance from the vehicle in front
