Motorway signs

Additional traffic lanes joining from the right ahead. Traffic on the main carriageway has priority over joining traffic sign

What it means

You are on the slip road here, not the main carriageway: the motorway's lanes come in from your right and traffic already on it has priority. Build your speed on the slip road to match that traffic, check your mirrors and blind spot, and fit into a gap rather than expecting drivers to make room for you. The two slip-road lanes do different things - the right-hand one merges in, while the left-hand one carries on as an extra lane, so if you are in that one stay in it rather than cutting across.
