Road markings
Red route loading bay
What it means
A bay marked in red on a red route is available for the purpose on its sign for only part of the day - at other times, such as busy peak periods, it is not. In the Highway Code's example it is a loading bay: only loading may take place, at the times shown, for up to 20 minutes. Red route bays and their signs are what show where and when loading is allowed (Rule 247), so check the sign before you pull in.
