Speed limit signs
Maximum speed limit of 50 miles per hour
What it means
Fifty is the legal maximum on this stretch and you MUST NOT go above it. Fifties are usually put where a faster road has a real problem: a run of bends, an awkward junction, or long roadworks. Hold 50 and stay alert for whatever the limit was lowered for, because something is coming.
