Speed limit signs
Maximum speed limit of 30 miles per hour
What it means
Thirty miles an hour is the legal maximum on this road and you MUST NOT exceed it. This is the limit you will spend most of your driving in: built-up streets, parked cars, shops and side roads everywhere. Ease off early rather than braking at the sign, and treat 30 as a ceiling, not a target.
Highway Code Rule 124 — read it on GOV.UK
