Road works and temporary
Location of road works immediately ahead on route indicated
What it means
A plate under the road works sign naming exactly where the work is — which carriageway, slip road or direction. On a dual carriageway or motorway it tells you whether it affects you at all. Read it early and get into the lane you need in good time, rather than swerving across at the cones.
Highway Code Rule 288 — read it on GOV.UK
