Road markings
Lane arrows and destinations
What it means
Arrows and words painted in each lane show which lane to use for where you are going - in this picture, the left lane for CITY, the middle lane straight ahead for the A3, and the right lane for YORK ST. Follow the signs and road markings and get into the lane as directed (Rule 134), as early as you safely can, rather than changing lanes at the last moment. An arrow pointing two ways means that lane can be used for either direction.
