Double yellow lines

Double yellow lines

What it means

Two yellow lines along the edge of the road mean no waiting at any time, even if there are no upright signs. You MUST NOT wait or park on them (Rule 238), and the restriction covers the road, the pavement and the verge. You may stop to let passengers get in or out, or to load or unload, unless there are also loading restrictions - shown by yellow marks on the kerb. A short line across the end, where there is one, shows where the restriction stops. A few double lines apply only in certain seasons, and those have a sign that says so.
