Double white lines (one broken, one solid)

Double white lines (one broken, one solid)

What it means

Two white lines down the middle of the road, one broken and one solid. What they mean depends on which line is nearer to you. If the broken line is on your side, you may cross the lines to overtake if it is safe, provided you can complete the manoeuvre before reaching a solid white line on your side (Rule 128). If the solid line is on your side, you MUST NOT cross or straddle it, apart from the exceptions in Rule 129. On either side, you MUST NOT stop or park on a road marked with double white lines except to pick up or set down passengers, or to load or unload goods (Rule 240). White arrows on the road tell you to get back onto your side.
