Information signs
Accident ahead and consequent need to proceed with caution
What it means
Police put these out to warn of a collision or other hazard on the road ahead. You'll meet them approaching an incident on a motorway or A-road, often with officers or coned-off lanes beyond. Ease off early, expect stopped traffic, and do exactly what any officer directing traffic tells you.
