Vehicular traffic must turn ahead in the direction indicated by the arrow
What it means
Advance warning that you will have to turn the way the arrow points at the junction ahead - it is not telling you to turn now. Use the extra distance properly: mirrors, get into the correct lane, and signal in good time so nobody behind is caught out when you slow to turn.
