Bus and cycle signs

Pedal cyclists to rejoin the main carriageway at the end of, or at a break in, a cycle lane, track or route

Pedal cyclists to rejoin the main carriageway at the end of, or at a break in, a cycle lane, track or route sign

What it means

Diagram 966 comes in two versions, so read the words rather than just recognising the blue rectangle. The one shown here, CYCLISTS DISMOUNT, advises riders to get off and walk where a cycle route ends or breaks; the other version tells them to rejoin the carriageway instead. Either way a cycle route is ending, so expect riders on your left slowing, dismounting or pulling out - check your left mirror as you pass it and leave them room.
