What it means
The surface ahead is broken up or rutted enough to upset the car's balance, with potholes, sunken trenches or ridges across the lane. It is usually temporary, while the road waits to be repaired. Slow down before you reach it, hold the wheel firmly, and avoid braking hard while the car is bouncing.
