What it means
A sudden gust of crosswind can hit you here, usually on an exposed bridge or viaduct or where the road comes out of a cutting. Ease off your speed and hold the wheel firmly with both hands. Give extra room to motorcyclists, cyclists, horse riders and high-sided lorries, which get blown about far more than a car.
