What it means
"Humped crossing" is a plate fitted under a warning triangle - the zebra crossing triangle, or the "traffic signals ahead" triangle at a signal-controlled crossing - and means the crossing itself is built on a raised hump. You will meet it on calmed high streets and outside schools. Slow early for both hazards at once - the hump under your wheels and people stepping out - and be ready to stop for anyone waiting.
